Berkeley College is seeking a Director, International Student Services. Under limited direction, provide advice and guidance to all international students in matters related to immigration status, international travel, health insurance, orientation, student employment, and related student support services. Serve as PDSO and ensure compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reporting requirements. Advocates for the interests of international students and ensure that Berkeley services are responsive to the needs of international students. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as the College's Primary Designated School Official ("PDSO") for international student programs; ensure timely and accurate registration and reporting of all students to stay in compliance with federal regulations. Advise applicants and students on immigration policies and procedures, including but not limited to employment authorization, status maintenance, visa applications, school transfers, and related compliance issues; if necessary, assist students in resolving status problems. Reviews and determines eligibility of prospective students; grants admission and issues immigration documents necessary to obtain the F-1 and J-1 student visas; advises students on the process for obtaining the student visa at the US embassy; serves as the PDSO to students in F-1 and J-1 visa status per DHS regulations. Liaise with all Federal, State and Local government agencies concerning international student matters; develop working relationships with immigration officials and other stakeholders to further the College's goals and objectives. Responsible for the management and supervision of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System ("SEVIS") data collection and tracking system; ensure that the system is current and accurate; respond to requests for information or assistance as requested. Collaborate with the College community in providing support and assistance to all international students. Collaborate with the office of Student Development and Campus Life to efficiently on-board international students and prepare them for orientation into the College. In collaboration with other College departments ensure that international students are involved and included in campus-wide programming Possess and maintain an understanding of current trends in international student affairs and current immigration policies, issues and procedures; ensure that the College's senior leadership and all other relevant College personnel are updated concerning matters relating to international students. Assist international applicants with the admission's process and provide pre-arrival assistance as requested. Participate in campus-wide programs and events and serve on committees as requested. Represent the College on- and off-campus for meetings or community programs concerning international students. Serve as administrative liaison with partner institutions abroad on exchange and dual degree student processes and procedures, including exchange student application procedures, immigration and visa documents, student inquiries and orientation, transmittal of transcripts, and student inquiries. Monitor student adjustment and early alert academic progress; provide consultation and referral as needed. Support other office initiatives, including study abroad program administration. Recruit, administer, hire, train and manage International Student Advisors and international student workers. Perform all other duties as assigned. Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000 Job Location: NYC Campus with occasional travel to other campuses to meet with students or attend meetings. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Minimum of 4 years of experience in international student services. Strong understanding of international student regulations (e.g., SEVIS, F-1 visas) and study abroad best practices Experience or evidence of ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities. Evidence of communication, public speaking, and organizational skills. Knowledge of the SEVIS documentation and reporting system. As required by the United States Department of Homeland Security, must be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States to serve as a PDSO and have previously served as a DSO or PDSO at an institution of higher education. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and in the use of Zoom technology is required. Must be willing and available to be contacted during off hours; must be available to work on nights or weekends as may be requested. Ability to manage sensitive and challenging issues and maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively within a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. Culturally sensitive, caring and friendly with a deep understanding and appreciation of a multi-cultural college community. Bilingual is preferred. Proficiency in Sales Force is preferred.
