Design Engineer

WWT is currently seeking a Design Engineer that has extensive AV design experience and industry knowledge in the large enterprise segment. This resource should be an expert in AV integration, endpoints, AV infrastructure hardware and software, AVoIP and meeting platforms such as MS Teams, Webex, Zoom and Google. This is a pre-sales role that must have the ability to listen to customer requirements and architect solutions focused on end-user and administration experience for a wide range of customer segments. Candidates should be comfortable presenting and engaging directly with senior level IT and facilities clients. Responsibilities: Provide AV Engineering support to the sales team in a thorough, detailed and time sensitive manner. Provide and document customer designs based on the client requirements. Work directly with clients, architects, interior designers, and consultants throughout the design development and delivery process. Develop Bill of Materials and Statements of Work based on system design and customer requirements. Develop system design drawing sketches such as audiovisual system diagram flows, Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications and operational capabilities narratives, etc. Develop accurate job cost estimates for each job. Provide technical response to the customer RFP/RFQ/RFI. Be capable of working effectively and efficiently with support from other members of the Engineering team. Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and subcontractors. Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects. Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices. Correctly interpret multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings and architectural diagrams. Provide R&D development of new integrations for WWT Demo facilities Keep abreast of Commercial AV advancements, best practices, and emerging technologies. Preferred location: St. Louis or Nearby Locations Qualifications: Over 5 years of experience in commissioning and/or designing AV systems for Enterprise customers. Advanced technical acumen in AV equipment and systems, including cameras, matrix switchers, DSPs and control system platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, QSC). Extensive experience building and supporting Cisco Macros for room integration and customizations. Ability to prepare, understand, and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, architectural, construction, and electrical drawings. Knowledge of project financial reports, and the ability to control costs in the design and management of projects is essential. Understanding of basic networking and AVoIP protocols (e.g., AVB, Dante). Experience configuring and supporting MTR, Zoom Rooms and Cisco Webex endpoints for client video conferencing solutions. Experienced in the use of AutoCAD, Revit or similar proficiency in the use of other diagrammatic software tools. Experience with DVLED video walls such as Planar and Unilumen. Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively within a team setting; experience leading field project installations is advantageous. Providing technical expertise for the architecture, installation, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions. Researching and evaluating the capabilities of available hardware and software options. Experience with Digital Signage platforms and hardware is a plus. Experience with streaming platforms such as Vbrick and Hive is a plus. Education & Experience: 5+ years' experience in a pre-sales Engineering role. Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in a technical subject is desirable. AV project management experience. Audio/Visual industry related technical certifications. Experience with collaboration technologies such as Teams, Zoom and WebEx. Additional Requirements: Preferred qualifications include AV design experience and certifications such as Certified Technology Specialist (CTS & CTS-D) - AVIXA, Dante Level 1 Certification, and proficiency with MTR, Crestron, Biamp, QSC, Shure, Cisco, Sennheiser software/hardware. May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs). Up to 50% Domestic travel Valid passport; International travel possible. Valid U.S. driver's license. Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Willingness to pursue and attend additional training related to performance of job. Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $115,000.00 to $130,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.
