Senior Manager, Sensor Substrates

Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health. We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us. Meet the Team

The Sensor Substrates group within the Research and Development (R&D) organization designs and develops next-generation sensor electrodes and substrates, which form the foundation for biosensor design and development. These innovations significantly impact the accuracy, reliability, and robustness of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. The team also leads the efforts to sustain the current sensor wire design used in Dexcom's industry-leading CGM products. Where You Come In

You will lead a small R&D team of scientists and engineers at multiple levels in designing next-generation glucose and alternate analyte electrode substrates, developing them from conception through commercial launch of continuous monitoring products. You will spearhead design improvements and investigations for Dexcom's current wire electrode design used in industry-leading continuous glucose monitoring products. You and your team will support manufacturing and quality engineering in continuous improvement initiatives, including supplier quality, manufacturing, or design specification updates. You will provide oversight on experimental design, execution, data analysis, and interpretation, while mentoring and training the team on design and characterization best practices. Additionally, you will serve as a technical lead in large-scale projects that require developing and incorporating biosensors, instrumentation, and firmware. You will ensure best practices in documenting design, development, and verification testing throughout the product development lifecycle. You will oversee the operation and safety of a working lab for fabricating prototype designs and characterizing the physical, mechanical, chemical, and electrochemical properties of substrate designs. You will actively promote and personally observe safety, security, and quality procedures and compliance. You will work with intellectual property counsel to devise and provide documentation for any new intellectual property resulting from development work. You will directly manage others, both internal and external, or may manage a function or business line with indirect responsibility for people management. You will be accountable for project and/or department budgets and the results of other people. You will have direct accountability for setting direction, deploying resources, and leading goal-setting, performance, compensation, and development discussions with your direct reports. You will act as a role model of Dexcom's values, creating a positive work environment. What Makes You Successful

You have a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. You have a strong technical background and experience in Metallurgy, electrode plating, coating, or cladding processes, or mechanical design and characterization of electrode substrates, particularly in the medical device industry, preferably in biosensor or implants applications. You have the capacity to manage multiple projects and communicate ideas clearly to the team; excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal, collaborate cross-functionally, and provide R&D leadership updates on project status and strategy. You can interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations, describing the risks and benefits of different approaches, and managing and mitigating those risk/benefit tradeoffs. You maintain quality laboratory standards and record keeping. You possess a strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills. You have firm knowledge of Quality by Design, Design for Six Sigma, and Design for Manufacturing concepts. You are knowledgeable and experienced in medical device regulations, such as ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR

820.30 Design controls. You are adept with statistical and data analysis tools such as JMP, Origin, Python, or R. What You'll Get
