Crew Planning & Scheduling
Compiles, selects, correlates and analyzes current flight schedule to provide safe, dependable, efficient and legal crew coverage for all flight segments to be flown each month. Oversees multiple runs and works with union committees on selecting pairing runs to cover each month's operation. Essential Duties Provides assistance in overseeing the development of monthly trip sequences and bid lines to efficiently utilize all crewmembers in total support of the flight schedule. Ensures trip pairings and crew routings minimize flight schedule coverage problems and operating costs. Coordinates with Director of Crew Resources in determining flight hours on proposed schedules for each base and makes staffing recommendations. Identifies areas where efficiency, safety and operational reliability can be improved by modifying pairing optimization software rules and solution attributes. Coordinates and communicates with Union Scheduling Committees and crewmembers regarding the methodology of the pairings and works with the unions to construct the monthly pairings. Establishes and maintains effective communication with Market Planning regarding future aircraft schedules. Analyzes and provides recommendations on structural changes such as crew domiciles that will improve productivity, efficiency and operational performance as it relates to the scheduling of crews. Coordinates hotel volume and requirements with crew accommodations provider for the initial monthly award. Provides analysis on beneficial changes in contractual issues to improve crewmember efficiency. Develops presentation and debrief materials for senior and executive level leadership regarding recommendations based on pairing scenarios. Trains Crew Planners on how to use the pairing optimization software and the strategy on knowing what levers to adjust and what runs are best to use for a monthly solution. Assists in monthly bid award process. Fosters the Company's core values and culture throughout the work environment. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years related experience. Knowledge of airline operations and federal regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Strong organization and statistical skills needed to extract, organize, analyze and report findings from complex datasets. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Confidentiality and excellent attention to detail and strong time management and prioritization skills Must be able to work extra hours when necessary Ability to work with all levels of management and labor representatives. Demonstrate effective communication skills Preferred Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in related field. Computer programming skills are a plus Four years of previous planning experience, or a combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Crew Optimization software (such as Jeppesen, S3RUS, Cygnus). Knowledge of Sabre CrewTrac and Sabre FLICA preferred. Strong background in analysis of crew schedule solutions with the ability to provide strategic recommendations to management Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization. Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Decision Making
