Automotive Safety Engineer

As an Automotive Safety Engineer, you will play a key role in the execution of highly automated driving (HAD) projects, including technical advising, training, assessments, and approvals. You'll work alongside our HAD team and collaborate with key stakeholders to support the safe and secure deployment of autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of systems and safety engineering, a passion for technology, and the ability to integrate knowledge across technical domains to support robust AV safety cases. Responsibilities: - Conduct technical reviews and conformity assessments (audits and evaluations) of AV systems based on leading safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600). - Stay current on AV industry trends, evolving standards, best practices, and regulatory developments. - Contribute to the development of internal service offerings and innovative assessment methodologies for AI-based systems. - Advise clients on the application of standards and best practices (e.g., AVSC), assisting in the creation of safety cases, safety management plans, and engineering workflows that meet regulatory and industry requirements. - Lead or support project management activities, ensuring effective execution and timely resolution of customer needs and challenges. - Collaborate with cross-functional teamsincluding engineers, project managers, and international partnerson functional safety and related standards. - Foster strong customer relationships by ensuring high satisfaction, identifying opportunities for service expansion, and supporting long-term account growth. - Support technical sales efforts and participate in client meetings, on-site demonstrations, and audits as needed. Qualification

Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in applied physics, Informatics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (focus on automotive applications is a plus). - 58 years of professional experience working with ISO 26262 or related safety standards; experience with ADAS or Autonomous Driving systems preferred. - Hands-on experience in project management, ideally within the automotive industry. - Additional experience with relevant safety/security standards (e.g., ISO 21434, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 9001) is a strong plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), including the responsible use of AI productivity tools. - Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills; structured and results-driven approach to work. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in both client-facing and internal collaboration. - A team-oriented mindset with flexibility and willingness to travel for projects. - A robust understanding of the US and EU certification process - An in-depth understanding of reading and interpreting global regulatory requirements and structures - A general overview of the future automotive legislation landscape - Strong client and service orientation, with a high degree of initiative and proactive approach - Good communication skills (able to discuss with clients about technical requirements) Competencies: - Communication - Collaboration - Customer Orientation - Self-Management Additional Information
