Head Track & Field Coach / Program Director

AZ Compass Prep is launching its first-ever Track & Field program for Middle School and High School (Grades 612) in Spring 2026. We are seeking a visionary, driven Head Coach to lead and help build the foundation of a high-quality, student-centered program that reflects our core values of academic success, athletic excellence, and personal development. The ideal candidate is passionate about coaching, committed to developing a structured program, and eager to work alongside the Athletic Director and supporting staff to grow something meaningful from the ground up. Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight:

Serve as the lead coach and director for the AZ Compass Prep Track & Field program. Coordinate across Middle School and High School levels (Grades 612). Collaborate with on-campus assistant coaches specializing in event-specific areas (sprints, jumps, distance, etc.). Manage and develop a roster of up to 50 student-athletes.

Administrative & Operational Duties:

Work directly with the Athletic Director to schedule meets, reserve facilities, manage rosters, and oversee logistics. Maintain accurate records of attendance, meet results, and athlete eligibility. Ensure consistent communication with parents, staff, and administration regarding schedules, expectations, and academic progress.

Recruitment & Program Growth:

Use the track program as a tool for recruiting prospective student-athletes to AZ Compass Prep. Participate in school open houses, community events, and outreach efforts. Develop a vision for long-term program growth, including summer training options, youth clinics, and off-season development.

Athlete Development & Culture:

Promote discipline, teamwork, and leadership among student-athletes. Prioritize student-athlete academic eligibility and classroom conduct in coordination with school staff. Create an inclusive and supportive team culture rooted in effort, accountability, and pride.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous coaching experience in Track & Field (middle school, high school, or higher) Experience overseeing multi-event teams and/or managing assistant coaches Background in recruitment, admissions, or community-based athletics preferred Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Passion for building a sustainable, competitive, and values-based program Work Schedule & Compensation

Estimated time commitment of 1520 hours/week during the season (including meets, practice, planning) Position runs JanuaryMay 2026 Hourly position
