Clemson University: College of Arts and Humanities: Philosophy & Religion Location: Hardin 034 Open Date: Jul 01, 2025 The Clemson University Department of Philosophy and Religion seeks to hire a full-time, 9-month Lecturer in Pre-Law Studies with employment to begin on August 15, 2025. The position has a 50% teaching designation, meaning two courses per semester. The position also has a 50% student services designation that will involve overseeing all programs, events, processes, and policies related to all undergraduate and graduate students interested in law-related careers at Clemson University. This includes advising pre-law students, organizing pre-law programs and events in consultation with stakeholders in other departments (including serving as faculty advisor to the William T. Howell Pre-Law Society), working with Clemson advancement and public relations officers to strengthen the pre-law program, assessing and reporting student success on the LSAT and law school admissions, and helping to recruit prospective pre-law students. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion, but also consults with the Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities and the CAH Director of Student Services to strategize future development and growth of the college's pre-law programs. Summer work, normally consisting of participation in summer orientations and occasional prospective student meetings, will be remunerated with a stipend. Clemson is a Carnegie Tier 1 Research University that combines the scientific and technological horsepower of a major research university with the academic and social environment of a small college. It is situated halfway between Charlotte and Atlanta in South Carolina's rapidly growing Upstate region. Qualifications: J.D. degree, with additional training in either philosophy or religious studies are required at the time of employment. The successful candidate will provide evidence of teaching excellence and experience in mentoring pre-law students.
