Location: Main Campus, Group Homes Reports To: Head of Nursing FLSA Status: Non-exempt Employee Status: Full-Time or Part-Time Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts Supervision Given: None Supervision Received: Head of Nursing, Executive Director Nature And Scope Of Position
Provides nursing care to assigned individuals with developmental disabilities in their group homes, and in other client areas. Primary Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED. Work Experience: At least one year of experience working as an LPN preferred. Certification or License: Licensed Practical Nurse CPR License Current Louisiana Driver's License Current Automotive Insurance Coverage Attendance at Mandatory Training & In-Services Other Considerations: Acceptable Driver's Motor Vehicle Record required. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Job Functions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Provides information to direct care staff relative to the implementation of clients' healthcare services and programs. Documents all pertinent health-related data and follow up in accordance with company policy. Physically responds directly to all requests for health care services or situations in which a nurse is needed. Maintain current Nursing and CPR license Administers medications and treatments as assigned in group homes. Administers medication and treatments to day clients as directed by the physician on the medication authorization form. Takes all necessary action as per written procedures to ensure timely completion of actions required by physician orders, inclusive of monitoring of medication side effects (labs, etc.) Responds and participates in all emergencies and emergency training activities such as current CPR, fire safety, evacuation, etc. Reports all health care needs of clients to physician for further evaluation and treatment. Communicates changes in clients Behavioral Management Medication and the reasons for these changes to direct care staff. Attends off-campus doctors/hospital appointments with clients as needed. Assure adequate supplies and equipment are available and in good working condition. Notifies family members of injuries and acute illnesses. Administers medication and treatments and conducts training in self-medication administration if applicable. Collects specimens in accordance with physician orders and agency policy Reports relevant information and/or unusual findings to DON Maintains a clean working environment. Willingly accepts and performs other duties and assignments to meet the needs of individuals residing at Magnolia Community Services. Adheres to Nurse Act of Louisiana and Magnolia Community Services policies and procedures. Performs quarterly assessments. Attends to all ill clients during the day/night. Available for all shifts including weekends and holidays when needed, available as part of on-call after-hours rotation. Other duties may be assigned as needed Other Functions
Understands and complies with Magnolia's mission, vision, and values. Works as a team with other Nursing and Magnolia staff, stepping in to assist or transport other clients and staff as needed. Maintains a professional image as a representative of Magnolia. May need to evacuate with Magnolia clients and staff in emergency situations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
