Job Title
The Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics (PDMB) function of our Research & Development Division at South San Francisco is seeking a dynamic and collaborative scientist for the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group. The Senior Scientist will be a member of the function providing expertise as a key component of the multi-disciplinary drug discovery effort in our Research & Development Division at South San Francisco, with a focus on supporting preclinical development of therapeutics of various modalities through integrated understanding of drug disposition and pharmacology. Therapeutic areas may include immunology and oncology, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and ophthalmology. The Senior Scientist will be a member of the DMPK function providing expertise as a key component of the multi-disciplinary drug discovery effort in our Research & Development Division at South San Francisco, with a focus on supporting preclinical development of next generation biologics, antibody drug conjugates (ADC), small molecule and peptide using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) technologies. The Senior Scientist will contribute to the LC-MS based quantitation analysis of PK samples and also biotransformation investigation of next gen biologics and Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Ideal candidate is expected to independently plan and conduct in vitro/ex vivo studies, independently interpret data, clearly present data to teams, and integrate data to inform pipeline decisions. The candidate will contribute to scientific initiative for further understanding in DMPK science. The successful candidate should be an experienced scientist with knowledge and hands on experience in HRMS operation/maintenance and quantitative/qualitative mass spec analysis of protein/peptide. Hands on experience with bioanalysis in DMPK space, global/targeted proteomics and cell-based assay is a plus. and associated informatic tools. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and have excellent scientific, interpersonal and communication skills. Position Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's (with 7 years), Master's (with 4 years) or Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, biochemical engineering or a related discipline and relevant experience Required Experience and Skills: Experience with high resolution mass spectrometers technologies (e.g. TOF, Orbitraps) Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting HPLC and mass spectrometers Demonstrated extensive experience in protein/peptide identification, quantitation and characterization using mass spectrometers, e.g. bioanalysis and biotransformation analysis of protein biotherapeutics, global or targeted bottom-up proteomics, peptidomics, top-down proteomics, etc. Demonstrated proficiency in designing and performing hypothesis-driven experiments Expertise with software such as Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, Genedata and other mass spectrometry software packages. Highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented individual with excellent communication and presentation skills. An excellent team player that can closely collaborate with internal and external collaborators Preferred Experience and Skills:
Previous experience in biologics/ADC PK sample LC-MS analysis is preferred but not required Previous experience with Watson LIMS, Sciex Triple Quads and MultiQuant is a plus but not required. Previous experience in drug discovery and development is a plus but not required. Previous experience in cell culture is a plus but not required. General knowledge of PK, ADME and/or drug discovery concepts. High learning agility and a willingness to contribute to all levels within the DMPK group.
