GDMS has an immediate opening for an Advanced Quality Engineer to join our Manufacturing Quality team responsible for overseeing the production and test of high-assurance, mission-critical electronics hardware. The selected candidate will be a key quality assurance representative at the Manufacturing Center and will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance while working with Integrated Product Teams to collaborate and manage the ongoing production build and test activities for a diverse range of complex circuit card assemblies and mission computers. Representative duties and tasks include participating in the interpretation, flow down, and enforcement of customers' contractual quality requirements; Materials Review Boards (MRB); Test Review Boards (TRB); Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Preventive Action Corrective Action (PACA) activities; and continuous improvement initiatives. Additional quality activities include the overseeing First Article Inspections (FAI), conducting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Advanced Quality Engineer will regularly and constructively interface with team members from Program Management, Process and Manufacturing Engineering, Scheduling, Materials, Supply Chain, and other disciplines. They will be comfortable functioning in a matrix organization with programmatic and departmental/functional lines of reporting and responsibility. The position may also conduct training on quality assurance concepts, tools, and techniques, and it will involve generating and presenting quality assurance data in support of the program quality representatives. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrating sophisticated problem-solving skills and technical manufacturing knowledge, a commitment to strict adherence to contract and technical requirements, and excellent communication and collaborative skills in assuring satisfaction for both external and internal customers in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly technical environment. Preferred degree types and experience include knowledge, experience, and skills in the following areas: Mechanical or electrical engineering, Supplier Quality, Leading and working well in multi-functional teams, Multitasking in a fast-paced environment, Timely decision-making, strong self-motivation, and taking initiative, Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills, Leading root cause analysis and driving corrective and preventive actions, Proficiently utilizing problem solving tools such as 5-Whys, Fault Tree Analysis, Pareto, and Fishbone (Cause/Effect) diagram, Understanding Hardware Quality (mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies) in an AS 9100 / ISO 9001 Manufacturing environment with a proven track-record of success, Configuration management industry standards and the effective implementation of as-built records, Acceptance Data Packages (ADP), and Change Control Board (CCB) documentation practices, Preparing and supporting the generation of complex proposals and contract reviews, Verifying that all details are accounted for in requirement analysis and flow down, Successfully representing a company during external customer source inspection or audits for conformance to quality management standards and program-specific requirements, Working MS-Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with a high degree of proficiency, and Interacting with a variety of digital tools: database applications such as MS-Access, requirements management applications such as IBM DOORS, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
