Central Hudson is seeking an Electric Transmission Planning Engineer to join our Electric Planning and Interconnections team. Engineers within this group perform long-range system studies for the company's electric transmission system, perform system analyses, and coordinate with the NYISO and other Transmission Owners (TOs) to analyze the impacts from generation resources looking to connect to Central Hudson's electric transmission system. What does an Engineer

Electric Transmission Planning do? Develops an understanding of the electric transmission system including an understanding of system ratings, contingency scenarios, and both state (NYS PSC) and federal (FERC) regulatory requirements Develops an understanding of the NYISO Interconnection Cluster Study process (Attachment HH), as well as internal Utility Interconnection processes Performs system analyses to analyze transmission system performance under various conditions utilizing PSS/E and TARA to identify potential overloads or voltage concerns Develops transmission planning area studies identifying system upgrades to support aging infrastructure and growth-related issues Develops an understanding of electric reliability metrics and supports Electric System Operations Identifies solutions to support large industrial loads Supports the completion of headroom analysis for generation siting Develops and recommends statements of engineering practices; investigates planning methods and procedures of the electric utility industry Oversees and supports documentation requirements, including compliance for NERC standards Represents Central Hudson within industry working groups as well as the NYISO and other TOs Provides support for storm restoration efforts What does it take to be an Engineer

Electric Transmission Planning? Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil or mechanical engineering Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly Well-developed written and verbal communication skills Excellent problem-solving skills with innovation in mind Strong analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills Must perform all tasks safely and design with safety in mind Self-starter with initiative and desire to drive continuous improvement Ability to voice opinions & lead discussions amongst industry groups Flexibility to multitask and operate under pressure in a fast-paced work environment Valid driver's license Preferred: Field of study in electrical or power engineering Knowledge of and/or experience in the electric and gas utility industry Knowledge of and/or experience related to renewables Applications will be accepted until August 15, 2025.
