Purpose of the Role: We are seeking a consultant with extensive technical expertise in gender equality, disability equity, and social inclusion (GEDSI) to support preparatory activities for an upcoming global technical assistance program. Responsibilities
Contribute to program design by attending solution meetings and responding to targeted inquiries on key contextual considerations Identify and recommend key resources and stakeholders for consultation to incorporate relevant inputs into program design Review drafts of program design documents, provide timely comprehensive feedback Revise and/or draft sections of program design documents Qualifications
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in gender studies, disability rights, social inclusion, human rights, or related fields. Minimum 7 years of experience delivering GEDSI advice in international development or humanitarian settings, with a focus on program design or strategy development. In-depth understanding of Australia's International Gender Equality Strategy and its application in policy and program design. Demonstrated experience advising on or designing GEDSI mechanisms, panels, facilities, or support units. Expertise in intersectional inclusion, particularly regarding disability inclusion, LGBTQIA+ rights, First Nations engagement, and gender-based violence prevention. Familiarity with DFAT's operational context, ODA program cycle, and existing platforms like SURGE and DID4All. Experience working across the Indo-Pacific, especially with locally led or regional GEDSI actors. Technical knowledge of climate change and disaster risk reduction from a GEDSI perspective. Experience providing GEDSI technical assistance on DFAT-funded projects required.
