IMRT Apprentice I
Toppan is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined IMRT Apprentice I to join our team in Hickory, NC. This is a hands-on apprenticeship opportunity offering a structured pathway into a career in manufacturing maintenance and mechatronics. As an IMRT Apprentice, you will gain valuable on-the-job experience while completing a company-approved associate degree or certification program in Mechatronics or a related field. Toppan covers 100% of tuition (after grants/scholarships) with a 3-year post-graduation employment commitment. What You'll Be Doing: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery, tooling, and plant equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure tools, machines, and parts meet specifications. Interpret mechanical drawings and translate raw materials into finished components with tight tolerances. Operate shop equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and welding tools. Perform welding and heat-treating as necessary. Record activities in logbooks and maintain an organized and clean work area. Communicate effectively with team members across shifts to ensure smooth operations. Support plant safety systems, food safety compliance, and environmental management. Participate in on-the-job and classroom training sessions. Comply with all SOPs, company policies, and safety regulations. You have experience with hand tools. You have a GED/High School Diploma required. You can lift 50 pounds. Must maintain a 3.0 average during schooling. Sonoco will pay 100% of schooling after grants/scholarships. Candidate must stay with TOPPAN at least 3 years after degree is obtained or they must pay back the cost of schooling.
