US News & World Report. We are excited to announce that we are looking for Part-Time Per Diem Histotechnologists / Histotechnicians at our NY Pathology Lab in Pearl River, NY. About the Role:

As a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician at NY Pathology Lab, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and analysis of tissue samples for diagnostic purposes. Your expertise will ensure that high-quality histological slides are produced, which are essential for accurate disease diagnosis and treatment planning. You will be responsible for overseeing the histology laboratory processes, including embedding, sectioning, and staining of tissue specimens. Additionally, you will mentor and train junior staff, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous learning and improvement. Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact patient care and the overall effectiveness of the healthcare services provided by our lab. Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent NY State License as a clinical laboratory histotechnician or technologist A minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical histology laboratory Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or a related field Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Experience with digital pathology and image analysis software Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR) Advanced certification in histotechnology or related specialty Responsibilities:

Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring adherence to established protocols. Perform advanced histological techniques, including immunohistochemistry and special stains, to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Supervise and train junior histotechnologists and laboratory staff, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety and quality control standards. Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and contribute to case reviews. Skills:

The required skills for this position include a strong understanding of histological techniques and laboratory protocols, which are essential for producing high-quality tissue samples. Attention to detail is critical, as even minor errors in specimen preparation can lead to misdiagnosis. Leadership skills will be utilized daily as you mentor junior staff and foster a team-oriented environment. Proficiency in laboratory equipment maintenance ensures that all tools are functioning optimally, contributing to the lab's efficiency. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with digital pathology, will enhance your ability to analyze and present findings effectively, further supporting the diagnostic process.
