Havenwyck Hospital Residential Care Specialist

Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Position Summary: The Residential Care Specialist (RCS) performs routine residential care duties and selected non-professional services under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services, Program Manager, and RCS Supervisor. Duties include providing a safe and therapeutic environment while providing care to children/adolescents in a manner that considers safety, residents' rights, and comfort. The RCS continuously observes the residents' behavior, mental status, and activities, and reports this information to the appropriate clinical staff; assists with activities of daily living and encourages independent behavior. Other typical duties are assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers and participating in the implementation of the resident's individualized plan of care. Duties and Responsibilities, To Include But Are Not Limited To: Follows instructions given by Program Director/RCS Supervisor as outlined in policies and procedure. Provides care to child/adolescent (9-18) in a manner that considers safety, residents' rights, comfort, level of development, and the therapeutic environment. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents. Assists with resident trips outside the center transporting residents in hospital van, as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields.
