Lead Development Engineer
This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission-critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions. Job Description EBAD seeks an engineer for the position Lead Development Engineer, reporting to the Product Development Manager. Responsibilities: Ensuring technical adherence to project and system requirements. Providing technical expertise to architect and develop high-quality, verifiable requirements. Negotiation and implementation of EBAD standard tailoring for governing specifications. Deriving system, sub-system, and component requirements, along with the appropriate team members, to ensure the design solution meets or exceeds all customer requirements. Ensuring all team-identified risks are captured in the risk management tool and that a robust risk mitigation plan is established. Identifying critical interfaces/boundaries and interface verification plan. Facilitating requirements and risk collaboration across functions. Mentoring team DEs through product performance requirements and development process. Ensuring all stakeholders (PM, DE, PCE) are aligned on technical scope. Supporting and/or performing technical analysis to substantiate team design decisions. Technical product line ownership including knowledge management & improvement initiatives. Identifying, justifying, and overseeing execution or product line IRAD/OpEx effort. Assuming Project Chief Engineer roles as assigned. Leading failure investigations and providing engineering support for product line production issues. Requirements: The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and experience in project, design or related engineering experience. Mechanical and/or Aerospace are the preferred engineering disciplines. Proven leadership of technical teams. Strong time and task management skills. Ability to apply customer requirements and government/military specifications to design. Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings, SolidWorks preferred. Capable of interpreting GD&T, understanding of how it affects part manufacturing, inspection, and cost. Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and customers. Demonstrated competency in problem solving and root cause analysis. Must have or be able to obtain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Competent with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of explosive materials and energetic devices, specifically Linear Shaped Charge Assemblies. Experience with product development, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing processes. Experience applying GD&T. Ability to perform and/or review tolerance analyses. Experience with MS Project.
