Responsible for analyzing customer needs and designing, developing, testing, installing, and integrating software systems to meet business needs. Configures and customizes both on-premise and SaaS applications. Recommends software upgrades to existing systems and presents newly available options that may better meet the needs of the City. Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of systems and troubleshooting any issues that surface requiring advanced technical skills to resolve. May lead, coordinate, advise, and direct other Software Engineers and Systems Analysts in routine system support analysis, development, and design. The City of Glendale does not sponsor any employment-based immigrant visas. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Provides front-line technical support to end-users, addressing their IT-related issues and inquiries. Primary point of contact for assisting end-users with hardware, software, and network problems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, resolving/routing incidents, and resolving/routing service requests. Essential Functions: Troubleshoots and problem solves. Provides professional front-line customer service and problem resolution via phone, remote access, or on-site diagnosis. Receives, prioritizes, assigns, completes, and documents Service Desk requests via request management system; routes and/or escalates to appropriate staff as needed. Troubleshoots and supports City-owned desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers and various peripherals. Performs remote deployments of Microsoft Operating Systems. Performs computer imaging. Manages user profiles, rights, and permissions in Microsoft Active Directory. Works with and manage Microsoft Print Services. Provides excellent customer service. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors: Associate degree in personal computer technology, computer science or related field and 1-2 years of Service Desk experience providing desktop operating system, hardware, and software support. Must possess A+ certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Familiar with ITIL v4 principles. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Knowledge Of: Local area networks, wide area networks, networked applications and telephony systems operations and cabling, including messaging Microsoft workstation operating systems and software products Specific technologies to include Windows 10 and Windows 11, Office 365, Office 2016, Teams, and Ethernet Virus, Spyware and Mal-Ware detection and removal techniques Computer hardware, peripherals, software, and network troubleshooting methods Ticket tracking systems Mobile phone and tablet hardware/software Ability To: Work effectively with users and technical personnel to achieve stated objectives Install, configure and support desktop and laptop operating systems, printers, multi-use devices, and other computer hardware and software Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a wide range of users Continually learn and demonstrate new skills via hands-on training, classroom training and self-study learning methods Be flexible and adapt to change Ability to work in a team environment; contribute as a team member and treat co-workers, subordinates and customers with respect. Build professional relationships with internal staff and customers. Special Requirements: ACJIS TOC-D certification required within 30 days of employment. Ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays if needed. A post-offer physical assessment is required. The City of Glendale will incur the cost of all required testing. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Physically lift 50 pounds to waist height and install computer equipment in physical location. Office and work bench setting. The risks of exposure to electrical hazards can be substantially controlled by following safe handling practices when installing and upgrading equipment.
