Machine Operator - Tube Mill (1st Shift)

Tube Mill Operator
The Tube Mill Operator is responsible to operate equipment in a Tube Production Cell, including Tube Mills, Tube Swagers, Tube Corrugators, Spot Welder, and measuring instruments to complete corrugated steel connectors for water and gas. This position will also conduct tests and measurements, log test and measurement results in computer, weight materials, fill reports and perform basic autonomous maintenance activities. Principal Functional Responsibilities: Operates production machines, machine tools and equipment used to roll, weld, cut, swage and corrugate steel tubes per specifications. Set and adjust machine parameters. Monitors and logs raw material and Tube's dimensions, quality of weld and shape according to specifications and quality control plan. Places coils of steel strips in the Tube Mill machine and guides it through the Tube Mill Machine. Spot Welds steel strips every new coil. Changes electrodes. Moves tubes from Tube Mill to Swager and to Corrugator. Feeds and retrieves tubes in swager and corrugator. Fills history cards, Production, and quality reports and hour by hour board. Places corrugated tubes in tubs ensuring that they are identified correctly. Apply clearly prescribed standard practice, using several procedures with some decisions. Communicates with other operators, team leads, supervisors, maintenance technicians and engineers, quality inspectors and engineers. Performs Cleaning, Inspection and Lubrication tasks in the machines under his/her assignment. Keeps the work area clean and organized following 5S discipline. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Minimum 1 year experience in production/industrial environment Basic mathematical skills. Basic measurements skills, use of caliper and micrometer Familiarity with machine control panels. Basic computer literacy skills. Comfortable navigating in Windows and Microsoft office. Mechanical basics/background. General understanding of what welding. Preferred Qualifications: Technical College program or courses Proficiencies: Dependable, Team Oriented, Positive Attitude Excited to learn new things Must be adaptable to a changing work environment.
