As an Estimator at Steed Industries, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial concrete projects. You will analyze project plans, perform detailed takeoffs, and develop cost estimates to ensure projects are financially viable while meeting client expectations. Your expertise in cost analysis and attention to detail will support our commitment to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities
Project Takeoffs: Perform detailed takeoffs from construction plans, calculating volume, linear foot, square foot, and cubic yard measurements to determine material and labor requirements. Plan Analysis: Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and details to identify scope, materials, and potential challenges. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates using Excel sheets, incorporating labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs while understanding markup and margins. Cost Codes and Job Costing: Assign and manage cost codes for accurate job costing, ensuring alignment with project budgets and financial tracking. Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals, ensuring all estimates align with project requirements and company standards. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project details and ensure accurate estimates. Data Management: Maintain organized records of estimates, takeoffs, and supporting documentation for future reference and analysis. Market Analysis: Stay informed of market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitive and realistic estimates. Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating, preferably in commercial concrete construction. Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, materials, and measurement techniques (volume, linear foot, square foot, cubic yards). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for calculations and cost estimation, with experience in construction estimating software preferred. Knowledge of cost codes, job costing, markup, and margin calculations. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in reviewing plans and specifications. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with project teams and clients. Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously. Benefits
