Here, you will make an impact by: Developing and advancing film processing and material technologies Supporting product development and scaleup Developing and implementing experiment plans Providing hands on process troubleshooting Working closely with functional experts in the film lab Collaborating seamlessly with personnel in plants, divisions, and other internal and external resources as needed to accomplish objectives Providing coverage for film experiments that may occur during nights, weekends, and holidays Leading or participating in cross functional new technology introduction teams Other duties as assigned Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, and/or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Physics, or a related field (completed and verified prior to start) One (1) year combined laboratory, manufacturing, pilot plant, and/or production environment experience in a private, public, government or military environment Background in multilayer extrusion process Experience with code development for data analysis and machine interface (i.e., C++, C#, MATLAB, Python) Experience in film process development, materials development, and optics Capable of providing hands on process troubleshooting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience in leading projects Work location: Job is lab-based, and expectation is work onsite (Maplewood, MN) Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
