Description
Performs routine and emergent radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, utilizing proper procedure and protocols. Demonstrates anatomy knowledge through proper patient positioning, technique selection, application or radiation protection and immobilization devices according to the department policy and procedure. Checks exam requisition request for special instructions from requesting physician and consults with radiologist as necessary. Greets patients, confirming their identification and introducing self. Confirms procedure site and referring physician orders with patient and explains examination procedure to patient and family, if present. Adheres to guidelines related to patient satisfaction. Models professional behavior and follows guidelines established to ensure customer loyalty and satisfaction with imaging services. Updates appropriate patient history, including completion of screening and consent forms as required and records unusual conditions/limitations on request. Documents examination time, room number and technical factors and enters into hospital information systems. Ensures facility and patient identification are imprinted on digital images. Enters accurate and prompt posting of procedure charges into hospital information systems according to department policy and procedures. Plans and organizes daily work assignments. Insures that the highest quality of radiographs are obtained and presented for interpretation. Follows policies and procedures related to radiation safety for both self and patients. Reports any unsafe situation to management in a timely manner. Wears radiation monitoring and safety equipment as required. Performs visual preventative safety inspections, completes tube warm-up procedures for all equipment as assigned. Reports quality control activities, dangerous conditions and/or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Maintains necessary supply of inventory for assigned room or workstation, rotating stock in orderly fashion and eliminating outdated items. Keeps work area clean and prepared with necessary supplies. Participates in and supports the NAH Risk Management Program. Transports and operates portable radiographic equipment to acute care areas and surgery. Insures the safe operation of equipment in the presence of other NAH employees and patients. May assist in the transport of patients to and from patient care areas such as ER, ICU, and nursing units.
