The Office of Career Engagement at American University's Kogod School of Business provides career development support to undergraduate and graduate business students. Event and Operations Assistants (EOAs) are students who assist with event support and administrative operations. This position is paid, and hiring preference is given to students who will be available for both the fall and spring semesters. This position will report to the Assistant Director, Events and Operations at the Kogod Office of Career Engagement. Responsibilities
Assist with event planning and provide day-of-support for career services related events. Deliver high-level customer service to all visitors (e.g., students, employers, faculty, staff, etc.). Provide project assistance, including data entry, regarding career service deliverables. Become knowledgeable about Handshake (Kogod's internal job database), and related technology platforms, to troubleshoot technical issues, provide support for employers and students, and perform specific career-related deliverables for office. Contribute to content creation for the department such as social media, PowerPoint presentations, etc. Perform general office administrative duties, such as copying, stocking shared space, etc. Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
Part-Time. 10-20 hours per week. Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. Salary Range
$17.95 - $18.50 per hour. Required Education and Experience
Students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree - Kogod students preferred. Ability to start position, beginning August 19, 2025. Strong leadership and communication skills. Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility, initiative, and ability to multitask and work both independently and as part of a team. Maturity and an elevated level of professionalism, especially as it relates to building and maintaining relationships with prospective and visiting employers. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Products. Additional Eligibility Qualifications
