We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Freight Trading Analyst to join our dynamic trading team. This role plays a critical part in supporting our freight trading desk through data-driven insights, market intelligence, and strategic forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight markets, financial modeling, and trade flow analysis. You will collaborate closely with traders, chartering managers, and risk teams to guide commercial decisions and enhance trading performance. Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred). Minimum of 5 years' experience in freight analysis or trading, ideally within commodities, shipping, or energy sectors. Deep understanding of global freight markets, vessel economics, and core trading principles. Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, Python, SQL, or similar. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to both technical and non-technical audiences. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving under pressure in a high-stakes trading environment. Responsibilities:

Monitor and analyze freight market trends, vessel supply/demand dynamics, and geopolitical developments to deliver actionable intelligence. Provide real-time analysis and scenario modeling to support commercial strategy and risk assessments. Develop and maintain robust data models leveraging AIS, port data, commodity flows, and macroeconomic indicators to forecast freight rate movements. Contribute to the development of trading strategies, including spread and arbitrage analysis across vessel classes and global regions. Produce concise market reports, P&L summaries, and performance dashboards for internal stakeholders and senior leadership. Work cross-functionally with chartering, risk, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment and transparency across trading activities. Build and enhance analytical tools, models, and dashboards using platforms such as Excel, Python, SQL, and Power BI. Location and Other Key Details:

You will work out of our Houston office, located at 2 Allen Centre, 1200 Smith St. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs. Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based on years of experience and scope of work. Suncor's operations include oil sands development, production and upgrading; offshore oil and gas; petroleum refining in Canada and the U.S.; and the company's Petro-Canada retail and wholesale distribution networks (including Canada's Electric Highway, a coast-to-coast network of fast-charging electric vehicle stations).
