Curriculum And Instructional Design Specialist
The Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the mission of the Child Welfare Education Partnership (CWEP) by writing, designing, and developing effective online, hybrid, and in-person training for NH Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) staff, caregivers and birth parents, residential providers, and other community partners. The Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist also serves as a subject matter consultant to CWEP leadership and partner agencies, advising on learning strategies, training innovations, and curriculum design to align with system-wide goals. This position is responsible for the creation and revision of child welfare-related curricula and instructional resources, the development and facilitation of courses, and the incorporation of instructional design best practices that enhance adult learning and professional development. Duties/Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Instructional Design (95%) Develop, revise, and maintain high-quality, research- and trauma-informed curricula and training materials for child welfare professionals and caregivers. Apply instructional design theories and principles to create online and hybrid courses using a learning management system (e.g., Canvas). Ensure alignment with universal design principles and accessibility standards. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to ensure content is current, relevant, and aligned with program goals. Design and incorporate knowledge checks, assessments, and multimedia learning objects into curriculum. Format curricula for both online and face-to-face delivery. (5%) Participate in statewide DCYF initiatives, conferences, and community events such as the NH DCYF Caregiver Conference, Youth Summit, and DCYF Conference. Work with CWEP, DCYF, and university stakeholders to align training goals with contract requirements. Serve on program-related committees and task forces. Assist with ongoing program evaluation, needs assessments, and improvement planning. Maintain documentation, websites, and shared resources. Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Services, or a closely related field. Minimum 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or adult education, preferably in child welfare or human services. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional systems design, and trauma-informed instructional practices. Strong writing, instructional, analytical, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate adult learning across delivery formats. Experience with LMS platforms (preferably Canvas), multimedia authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise), and web conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams). Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Experience teaching in both online and face-to-face settings. Familiarity with the child welfare system in New Hampshire or similar settings is strongly preferred. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel statewide; some evening and weekend work required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing federally funded training initiatives or working within grant-funded program structures. Knowledge of HTML and web design principles. Demonstrated success in program evaluation and training impact assessment. Proven ability to translate complex or abstract concepts into accessible, practical curricula.
