The Chaplain 1 offers spiritual care as part of a holistic team approach. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith or religious affiliation. Work Model for this Lakeway PRN Position: Onsite every Wednesday, Daytime 9a - 6p From home weekend on-call (Sat/Sun) Special pay if not called in Time and a half if called in to include set travel pay. Coverage for staff Chaplain on vacation/education time as needed. Essential Functions of the Role: Organizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff. This includes weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs. Conducts spiritual assessment of patients for spiritual and emotional care. Provides emotional and spiritual support as needed for patients, families, and employees. Facilitates the end-of-life care for patients and families. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. Works as part of a team to assess patient needs and improve care. Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community. Consults closely with staff chaplain or Pastoral Care Director as needed. Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients. Provides assessment and support of palliative care patients in accordance with joint commission requirements. Facilitates advance care planning with patients and families. Key Success Factors: Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions. Knowledge of the principles and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting. Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations. Able to communicate thoughts clearly; both verbally and in writing. Interpersonal and listening skills. Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff. Ability to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress. Denominational endorsement for chaplaincy, ordination or commissioning to ministry preferred. General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, electronic medical documentation, and email. Progress towards Board Certification as a chaplain in APC or NACC is highly encouraged. Qualifications: Education - Bachelor's (Must be a completed Bachelor's) Master's of Divinity preferred but not required Experience - Less than 1 Year of Experience Certification/License/Registration - Minimum one unit of ACPE - CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education)
