Field Engineer
provides technical engineering support to project supervisors and craft workforce to ensure all construction complies with all appropriate standards, codes and specifications. The Field Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have good communication and client service skills. Major Duties & Responsibilities: Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring others Supports/assists in implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies Participate in performing survey layout for construction control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials Maintain record documents Material takeoffs for self-perform work Research of drawing interpretations, problems, and errors Verification that all completed work complies with drawings and specifications Strong knowledge of the contract specifications and documents Verify all survey monuments and markers Assist in subcontractor coordination Responsible for conducting themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work. Other duties as assigned Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines: Commitment to a culture of safety Exhibits personality traits common to The Way We Work Understanding of industry Strong understanding of reading contract drawings and specifications Basic math/accounting skills Functions effectively as part of a team Ability to understand and follow directions Good written and verbal communication skills Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products Excellent time management and organizational skills Minimum Qualifications: 2 Year Degree- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis 3 years of industry experience Must be able to manage layout and total station Working Conditions and Physical Efforts: You must be adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day. Ability to repeat the same movements. Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls. Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence. Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time. Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License). Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
