CIO-Polar Operations
V2X invites applications for the position of CIO-Polar Operations, for the NSF Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC). This position focuses on providing program-wide IT and communications services in support of scientific research in and around the Antarctic region and additional support locations in California, Chile, and New Zealand. This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Responsibilities include setting objectives and strategies for the IT department, selecting and implementing suitable technology to streamline all internal operations, designing and customizing technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience, planning the implementation of new systems and providing guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization, approving purchases of technological equipment and software, establishing partnerships with IT providers, overseeing the technological infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, directing and organizing IT-related projects, monitoring changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage, analyzing the costs, value, and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions, ensuring adherence to established standards of individual performance and discipline, interviewing IT&C prospective managers and assisting in the selection of new employees, identifying, studying, and implementing cost-saving initiatives where applicable, determining and allocating resources to meet all mission requirements, ensuring the IT & Communications organization is not overly tasked with augmentation duties outside respective functional areas, planning and directing project execution, monitoring and reporting progress. Qualifications include proven experience as CIO or a similar managerial role, excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure, background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation, solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations, superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities, a strong strategic and business mindset, excellent organizational and leadership skills, outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, extensive knowledge of US Government computer networks and systems, strong communications, interpersonal, leadership, and managerial skills with an extensive background in building and leading a diverse team, dealing with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner, being a US citizen, a BSC/BA in computer science, engineering, or relevant field, an MSc/MA will be preferred, and ten years management and senior level supervisory experience within the last fifteen years, in the performance and communications and IT support in execution of polar operations or similar expeditionary type environments.
