Associate Project Manager II

The selected candidates will serve as Associate Project Manager and manage the design and/or construction of bridge capital engineering projects. The job includes the following major tasks: Preparation of preliminary scopes of work and engineering estimates. Coordinate project development with multiple stakeholders including, other DOT units, other City agencies, New York State and other external government agencies, and Community Boards. Plan, administer, coordinate and supervise engineering design carried out by consultant engineering services. Perform technical reviews of drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, and reports produced by consultants and contractors. Oversee, coordinate and monitor the work of consultant Resident Engineering and Inspection services. Supervises the work of the subordinates. Manage and resolve project issues. Take a proactive approach to project risk management. Manage project budgets within the constraints of the City budget process. Manage project schedule. Prepare reports on projects status. Manage consultant and contractor contracts including, procurement, contract changes, performance evaluations, and other related duties. Preferred skills: Civil Engineering Degree, Experience of bridge design and construction, Understanding of heavy civil infrastructure design practices and standards, Understanding of project management principals. Qualifications: One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either: 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college or university education and/or experience described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience.
