We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Technician (Fabrication) to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training. Location: DC Metro Area Job Status: FT Travel: Up to 20% Required Qualifications / Skills
Associate degree in any Engineering Technology discipline or a trade school diploma/trade license Ten (10) or more years of related experience in lieu of an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology. Minimum Secret Clearance Desired Qualifications / Skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines. Approximately fifteen (15) years of verifiable experience participating in engineering technician fabrication. Responsibilities
Operate test equipment/fixtures, perform testing, and schedule and perform preventive and corrective maintenance at Government locations including: West Bethesda, MD - Code 80 hydrodynamic (hydro) facilities; Millington, TN - Code 80 Large Cavitation Channel; and Triadelphia, MD - Testing Reservoir Perform Technical Planning Services in support of Fabrication Projects Supervise and perform fabrication of parts and appurtenances for testing, for which accessories typically interface between the testing facility and the scaled model. Review technical drawing packages and contrast them against fabrication shop capabilities in order to outline project specifications and recommend major objectives for Government approval including machine allocation, tooling requirements, and fabrication schedule. Develop and maintain weekly schedules for fabrication projects. Determine whether fabrication products meet specification requirements and whether project progress is within budget and schedule requirements. Develop briefing materials for fabrication projects, to include project planning charts, project status, and project prioritization. Participate in fabrication planning meetings. What We Offer
