The City of Dunn is seeking a qualified GIS Technician that will support the ongoing maintenance and dissemination of the data and applications related to the geographic information system for the City's utility infrastructure. This position will be responsible for the ongoing spatial data maintenance and dissemination, end user support and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and information product; for uploading as-built drawings into the GIS database; for compiling and organizing GIS data from maps, databases and other sources; for the collection and conversion of mapping resources and data; for the collection of data in the field using Global Positioning System (GPS) units; for the input and editing of municipal infrastructure; for the conversion, import and export data in and out of the GIS system; and to ensure that quality assurance on new or revised data conforms to standards laid out in the GeoDatabase, or any other applicable standard or policy. A qualified candidate will possess a High School Diploma and considerable experience with ESRI ArcGIS software. Preferably a two-year Associates degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Engineering Technology, or equivalent; 2-3 years' experience and knowledge with GIS databases and editing using ESRI ArcGIS software. Thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, capabilities and limitation of the equipment used in the area of assignment; of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions involved in the operation and maintenance of underground utilities; and of traffic laws regulations. Must possess a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver License.
