Top Secret Research Engineer/Scientist
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the Department of Defense (DoD) and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies, particularly integrated communications, networking, and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies, to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach, the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering, cybersecurity, operational integration, and data analytics, all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies. Essential Job Responsibilities: Develops and researches new concepts, processes, or technology. Collects relevant information and data, analyzes it, performs tests, and creates optimal solutions that meet the needs of the mission. Works with emerging technologies to deploy to new and existing systems. Participates in the full research and development lifecycle. Collaborates with Weapon Systems Engineers to develop and maintain weapon systems (e.g., Minuteman III). Conducts research and writing support on various topics within the scientific and technology community in support of warfighting objectives. Minimum Qualifications: 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience. Must possess an active Top Secret Clearance. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. Capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proven track record of contributing to successful team outcomes. Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of DoD acquisition and contracting processes. Working familiarity with federal compliance standards (e.g., DFARS, ITAR). PMP, CISSP, or other relevant certifications preferred. Physical Requirements: May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
