Full-Time Instructor (Electrical Vehicle/Hybrid Automotive)
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Electrical Vehicle/Hybrid Automotive) position, in the Industrial and Transportation Technology department within the Academic and Student Affairs Division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's main campus, just south of downtown Atlanta. Job Description: Under general supervision of the Dean of Industrial and Transportation Technology department, the Full-Time Electrical Vehicle/Hybrid Automotive Instructor provides instruction and support to students in EV Automotive program. This position requires utilizing techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and demonstrates varying techniques. Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current procedures in the Automotive Technology field. Develops and reviews program and syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards. Evaluates and reviews students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Instructs, advises and counsels students, and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student. Maintains strict safety rules in classroom and lab environments. Monitors use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains and reviews program certification requirements, as appropriate for program accreditation standards. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports, especially as required for grant purposes. Attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Demonstrates and ensures the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping). Serves on committees. Maintains ASE certifications and ensures qualifications for employment are updated as necessary in technical fields. Promotes good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector; and Performs additional duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and an automotive technology diploma from an accredited private or public postsecondary institution. One (1) of more years of paid technical experience. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse, adult learners. Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following: Associate's degree or higher and an automotive technology diploma from an accredited private or public postsecondary institution. Certified electric vehicle (EV) technician with at least three (3) years of paid technical experience working as an EV engine and/or EV battery repair technician. Certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE): EV Electrical Safety Awareness Certification (Level One).
