Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager with managing the project life cycle process on assigned projects. The APM will assist in obtaining project pricing, budgeting, estimating, detailing, management of subcontractors/vendors, and project schedules. Responsibilities include: Assisting in maintaining a safe and secure work environment by coordinating safety meetings, incident investigations, and maintaining employee involvement. Assisting project managers and superintendents in executing the project life cycle. Working with the Project Manager to ensure proper planning and management of the installation of HVAC and plumbing to ensure that the installation meets code and project requirements and is brought in on time and under budget. Participating in operation, corporate, and departmental meetings, as required to successfully execute the project and/or departmental goals. Assisting the Project Manager in preparations of vendor and subcontractor purchase orders, submittals, and shop drawings to reflect contract drawings, specifications, and estimates. Actively participating in monthly reports and cost reviews, capturing deviations from plan or schedule. Working with the project team in order to bring the project in on time and under budget. Assisting the Project Manager as needed with estimating change orders, project documentation, and project close-out, including commissioning requirements. Responsible for actively participating with the project team on all facets of the project life cycle to ensure project goals are met; while developing a skillset to progress one's career in the mechanical industry. Qualifications include: 0-2 years' experience in the industry. Thorough knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods. Ability to read construction plans and specifications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of the industry and the company's competitors. Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering. Experience in processing submittals. Experience in heavy commercial construction. Hands-on experience in craft supervision and labor coordination. Travel requirements include: 40-60% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location. Physical activities include: Climbing stairs. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Environmental conditions include: Quiet environment. Noisy environment. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Physical demands include: Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds. Pay range is USD $27.92 - USD $37.29/hr.
