Position is working all medical billing & collections for large General Surgery Medical Group. Summary: Must know how to navigate through insurance portals, process appeals and can have stern conversations with payers and discuss accounts with patients. Process a high volume of claims, payments and work with insurances.Job descriptionMedical Collector opportunity in Laguna Hills for a high-volume Surgical Center. The Collector needs to have experience in payor websites and appeals.-Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30pm, OR 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m.-Paying $26-30hr DOEESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary functions are detail oriented to manage debit/credit account balances, patient balance resolution and non-patient (insurance) resolution.Accurate and timely follow up and resolution for all accounts receivable through auditing of accounts.Meeting and maintaining cash collection metrics and goals.Maximized facility reimbursement.Understands each payer contract and will utilize to ensure payments received are correct.Understands and can explain the Explanation of Benefits received from any payer.Works closely with payer provider relations representatives with online appeals input and monitoring.Handles contracted HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, Worker's Com., Medicare, self-pay and third party reimbursement issues and non-contracted LOAs.Effectively and independently handles second level reimbursement issues, contracted and non-contracted denials for serviced before and after procedures.Works all denials and corrected claims collaborating with the biller and/or Business Office Manager, insurance payers and/or patients on past due accounts.Follow center policies, procedures, and best practices for resolution and reassignment of accounts.Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance billing.Have ability to communicate effectively with patient, physicians, and other teammates.RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes accurate and timely follow up with responsible third-party payer for outstanding accounts receivables Research claim denials and rejections, documenting all relevant actions for audit and tracking and taking appropriate steps towards claim resolution Write and file appeals as appropriate Develops expertise and payer specific knowledge on all aspects of medical claim collections Identify and report collection trends and/or issues resulting in delayed claim adjudication Interpret explanation of benefits for accuracy and correct payer adjudication Ability to prioritize workload and identify key projects that will result in reduction of outstanding accounts receivable Collaborate with RCM leadership to implement collection strategies achieving department goals Position Requirements Experience with physician billing 2+ years of success in medical billing and/or collections Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word and MS Excel Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
