Climber - Stamford, TX
The Climber is responsible for climbing, pruning, and removing trees. Essential functions include following and helping enforce safe practices and rules, climbing, pruning, and removing trees according to the Foreperson's directives, and working from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws. Supervisory responsibilities include climbers having no direct reports. Experience requirements include prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred; previous climbing experience is preferred. Education requirements include a high school diploma or education equivalent preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrating a working knowledge of all knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations, climbing and descending trees using rope and safety saddle, administering and implementing emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and all applicable first aid techniques, being familiar with electrical hazards and appropriate operating procedures when in proximity to electrical conductors and aerial rescue techniques in the event of an emergency aloft, working and maneuvering at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions, possessing physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance, quickly removing yourself from a potential danger area, obtaining and maintaining first-aid certification and CPR, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), and traveling out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
