The Health Careers Liaison (HCL) supports and assists high school students and other adults in identifying health career pathways and the steps to achieve them. The HCL is student-centered and empathetic in advocating and serving youths and adults. The HCL assists students in making a successful academic and social transition into college. Ensure students, especially underserved and marginalized students are provided the information, knowledge, and coaching needed to attain their educational and career goals. Responsibilities
Will partner and consult with area Community Colleges and ApprenticeshipNC to develop registered apprenticeship programs at FirstHealth. Partner with leaders to identify apprenticeship opportunities. Represent FirstFutures at College Career Fairs, high school career fairs and middle school career exploration events. Meet one-on-one and in group settings with students to determine educational and career goals and guide to appropriate apprenticeship opportunities. Provide guidance for students in internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities and in understanding and building employment skills. Maintain accurate and complete records of student interactions, events, and all other work assignments. Assist prospective students with career exploration activities. Provide information to educators, students, and their families regarding the current job market and career choices. Conduct classroom presentations promoting health care career programs and activities. Serve as public advocate for apprenticeship program and raise awareness with community at large. Facilitate Community College Collaborative Workgroup. Prepare data analysis for workgroup meetings. Track communication with students in database. Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in education, marketing, communication, or related field required.
