Pinellas County's Transportation Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is stably funded by the Penny for Pinellas sales tax and 9th cent gas tax which offers an exciting opportunity to develop a diverse and interesting portfolio of projects in one of the most beautiful yet most densely populated areas in Florida. The County is seeking a motivated and collaborative engineering manager with effective communication skills to lead the planning, development, and management of the county's Transportation Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Example projects include: Beckett Bridge Replacement Project San Martin Boulevard Bridge Keystone Road & East Lake Road Emergency Access Improvements East Lake Road Corridor Forest Lakes Blvd. Phase III Pavement Preservation Program McKay Creek Greenway Trail Pinellas Trail South Gap Signalization Improvements ITS/ATMS Projects The Transportation CIP Section Manager ensures projects are completed on time and on budget, is collaborative with all stakeholders, follows project management best practices, guides and mentors staff, and resolves barriers to program and employee success. As part of the Pinellas County Public Works team you will report to the Capital Improvements Division Director and help advance our vision to be Florida's leading public works agency in operational sustainability, enhanced quality of life, and effective stewardship of our infrastructure and natural environment. This is a professional engineering position responsible for the planning, design, and management of the transportation CIP and related studies within the Public Works Department Capital Improvements Division. The position includes working with internal teams of varying departments and managing internal and consultant design teams for project development, quality analysis, alternatives determination and design. The position assists with prioritizing, scheduling and budgeting of projects consistent with County and Public Works strategic plans and goals and includes coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The position requires understanding of roadway, bridge, ITS/ATMS, complete streets, intersection improvements, pavement management, and other transportation systems as well as best management practices in project management, engineering design practices, and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with the Transportation and Stormwater Divisions to prioritize and rank CIP projects for implementation and typically provides project coordination throughout construction to the Construction Division.
