Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic

As an Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic, WG-8268-10, you will utilize electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical publications to determine the extent and type of preventative and/or repair maintenance required. Connect power sources, and using cockpit controls, gauges and additional precision instruments, perform operational and functional checks of inflight refueling, single point refueling, and fuel transfer systems and related valves, pumps, switches, selectors, and control devices. Perform leak check of aircraft fuel systems by visual inspection or by removal of panels and dye tracing fuel leaks. Diagnose and overhauls fuel accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, scratches, cracks, or other damage. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG, and DE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: National Guard Membership is required. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Qualifications: This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the 171st Air Refueling Wing AOC 2: NG employees in the 171st Air Refueling Wing (This includes 258th ATCS, 146 Weather Flight, 146 ARS, and 147 ARS) AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes Traditional Airmen, Temporary Technicians, and AGR Personnel) AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG. Temporary Promotion/Reassignment: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status. Indefinite: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice. General Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work. Specialized Experience: Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing, and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. Quality of Experience: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
