Learning Technologies Technician-Afternoon Shift (Contingent II)

Bowie State University is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide instructional technology support for faculty and students. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to resolve technology issues in person, over the phone, or through chat. Responsibilities: Provide exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, and students, assisting with audio/visual and computer technology and media used in classrooms and elsewhere. Experience working with Hyflex technology Troubleshoot technical issues and track, resolve, and follow-up on operational problems with equipment and facilities, cleaning and maintaining equipment as necessary. Collaborate with other Technology Services staff to identify and implement appropriate AV technology solutions for teaching and learning. Train faculty, staff, and students in the use of classroom facilities, equipment, and new instructional technologies. Assist with technical pre/post preparation for courses/events, including the setup and operation of instructional technology and audio-visual equipment. Participate in on-the-job training to gain skills and expertise in responding to calls or tickets for audio-visual technical support, media support for special events and conferences, videography, video conferencing, video streaming, lecture capture, and/or projection. Work on teams to conduct equipment inventory and classroom maintenance audits, asset management databases, and evaluate, document, and implement new technologies. At least three years of support experience. Considerable experience with and knowledge operating complex audio-visual and computer-based technologies. Experience in audio/visual control systems. Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows operating systems. Strong analytical skills: ability to troubleshoot equipment, connection, and software problems. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. History of demonstrated strong interpersonal and positive communication skills. Ability to interact positively with a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff. Experience and enthusiasm for customer service and helping people. Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and motivate others under tight deadlines. Ability to analyze a situation quickly and create solutions aligned with unit policies to ensure an effective classroom experience for students and faculty. Ability to handle stressful situations with grace and tact. Ability to work well without direct supervision and in teams. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus three-year experience in the operation and maintenance of audiovisual/production/instructional technology equipment or an Associate of Arts degree with specialization in Multimedia Technology or Information Technology.
