Sarasota County Government is offering a full-time position with a competitive hourly rate of $15.35. The job is based in Sarasota, FL, and is part of the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources department. Under direct supervision, the role involves performing light to heavy physical labor for the maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields and adjunct facilities. This includes field turf restoration, event and game day preparation, customer service to patrons, and general maintenance techniques to ensure safe and playable athletic facilities. The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds, and a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of sports field maintenance and experience in maintaining higher-level sports field playing surfaces. The job requires basic computer skills, general knowledge of methods and techniques for maintaining athletic fields, and the ability to operate mowers and other types of field maintenance equipment. The candidate must also be able to work anytime from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
