The City of Richland is seeking candidates for a full-time position with a salary of $61.71 hourly. The job is located in Richland, WA, under the Energy Services department. The closing date for applications is continuous. Position Salary Range: $61.71 (set by the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement) PLEASE REVIEW MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO ENSURE THEY ARE MET BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION. GENERAL SUMMARY Under the direction of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor or designee, operates and maintains electrical revenue metering and substation equipment; performs maintenance, repair, tests, and calibrations on all types of electrical energy metering; performs underground fault locating and construction, fabrication, and welding as needed. Subject to 24-hour callout for emergency situations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED. Must have successfully completed one (1) of the following apprenticeships: Meter Technician, Relay Technician, Lineworker, Electrician, or Substation Electrician. Three (3) years of Journey-level experience. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid driver's license. Journey-level certification in one or more of the following: Meter Technician, Relay Technician, Lineworker, Electrician, or Substation Electrician. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Four (4) years of direct Journeyman level experience. Three (3) years of direct experience installing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting protective relays, revenue meters, or substation maintenance equipment. Intermediate knowledge of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays. Experience, education, and training in more than just one of the following journeyman classifications: Meter Technician, Relay Technician or Substation Electrician. Prior experience and/or training performing underground fault location. Prior experience programming Program Logic Controllers (PLCs). Prior fabrication and welding experience. Applied knowledge of laws and regulations that govern the electrical industry in the State of Washington. Working knowledge specifically in the following Microsoft programs: Excel, SharePoint, and Word ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Duties listed are representative of the types of tasks and functions performed by positions of this class of work. Performs work from bucket trucks, ladders, lifting devices, and underground vaults using shop apparatus, and City and customer facilities. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending on whether in the office and/or on a construction site. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles within a construction site. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies/procedures. Physical Demands: Regular and punctual attendance at the office or other assigned locations. Operate a motorized vehicle, which may include inclement weather conditions. Operate standard equipment for assigned tasks. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with arms and hands, kneel and stretch, occasionally crawling in tight spaces, such as attics and crawl spaces, as well as the ability to climb ladders and stairs, and ride on platform hoists.
