Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Georgia Department of - DBHDD Job Responsibilities & Performance: Plans and organizes the work of the assigned area within the Housekeeping Department. Participates in developing and presenting in-service educational programs for the facility and the department. Oversees educational and training development of subordinate staff. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and uses this knowledge to improve the quality of services provided by the department. Manages the work of housekeeping staff, typically through subordinate supervisors. Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation. Assists the department head in decision-making, developing and initiating department policy, drafting correspondence and providing data. Maintains professional behavior when completing tasks and interacting with others as a team member. Readily accepts special projects. Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas Supervises and/or directs the work of others Ensures laundry, housekeeping and floor equipment is in good working condition Plans, develops, schedules and implements laundry services Observes required safety precautions in disposing of contaminated refuse * FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT* Qualifications - External: One year of experience as a lead worker in related area of assignment OR One year of experience at the lower level Housekeeper 2 (FES041) or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications - External: High School Diploma or GED AND One year of experience as a lead worker or supervisor in a housekeeping program. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to oversee staff to ensure standards are met and enforced and work is accomplished in a timely manner. Ability to inspect and review the work performed by Housekeepers and Laundry Workers.
