Position Description:

The High School Principal in Residence is a dynamic, aspiring school leader who will participate in a structured, hands-on training program to develop the skills necessary to become a high school principal within ICEF Public Schools. The Principal in Residence will receive mentorship and coaching while working alongside an experienced principal, engaging in leadership responsibilities, and supporting academic achievement, school culture, and operational excellence. This High School Principal in Residence position serves as a leadership pipeline role, preparing candidates for future principalship within ICEF Public Schools. Reporting: This position reports to the Chief of Schools. TEAM LEADERSHIP

Works closely with the mentor principal to understand and support school-wide instructional leadership, operations, and culture. Works closely with the mentor principal to set the vision for excellence for the school community and supports leading the school in an annual strategic planning cycle to set annual priorities, goals, targets. Manage and support direct reports to ensure they are effectively leading programs and systems related to positive student culture, student services, school climate and culture, effective operations, and parent engagement and community connectedness, and student and staff recruitment, enrollment, and retention. Ensure direct reports are receiving clear, consistent, integrated messages of how they should be spending their time, energy, and talent, as well as have opportunities to collaborate as a team and learn from each other. Models how to build strong, mutually respectful, relationships with students and families, and supports teachers and staff to do the same Works closely with the mentor principal to craft a vision of excellence for the school in relation to student culture and sense of belonging to meet unique student population needs Implements a system for sustaining attendance improvement efforts by establishing an attendance team, implementing a tiered system of supports, ensuring buy-in from stakeholders and decreasing overall chronic absenteeism rates In collaboration with the Mentor Principal, establish clear, actionable, and data-informed goals, milestones, and targets with each direct report on a quarterly basis. INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP & STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Manage and support direct reports, in collaboration with the mentor principal, to ensure they are effectively leading programs and systems related to instructional leadership Ensure direct reports are receiving clear, consistent, integrated messages of how they should be spending their time, energy, and talent, as well as have opportunities to collaborate as a team and learn from each other Lead and participate in professional development, instructional rounds, and coaching cycles to strengthen teacher effectiveness. Continuously monitor, track and analyze student achievement data in order to identify needed supports and strategies Implement and oversee effective, high quality data analysis cycles with teachers/teacher teams to facilitate the analysis of data provided by ICEF Interim Assessments, unit assessments, and formative assessments Identify, with the support of the Mentor Principal and network-wide instructional leadership team, where teachers need additional support, coaching, and professional development Co-lead school-site instruction internalization process, including but not limited to, reviewing network year at a glance and adjusting pacing based off unique needs of students, teachers, and the school In collaboration with the Mentor Principal and network-wide instructional leadership team, provide leadership in the area of curriculum, instruction and modifications/accommodations for students with diverse learning needs Oversee the implementation of a robust Multi-Tiered Support System that provides timely academic and behavioral support to students with identified needs (i.e., RTI, SST, SPED), in collaboration with network-wide instructional team Ensure that the staff (certificated and classified) have a learning and growth mindset, are exploring and implementing best practices, and are being developed as strong leaders and managers SCHOOL CULTURE & CLIMATE

Assists in creating and maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment that fosters student success. Supports the development and implementation of restorative justice practices and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). Help manage student behavior and develop systems to promote positive student behavior. Work with school leadership to improve attendance and decrease chronic absenteeism. FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders. Assist in the coordination of parent engagement initiatives and community partnerships. Support school events, student recruitment, and outreach efforts. Communicate effectively with families to ensure they are informed and engaged in their student's educational experience. SCHOOL OPERATIONS & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Gain experience in budgetary planning and resource allocation to support student achievement. Collaborate with the Mentor Principal on scheduling, staffing, and operational planning. Supports compliance with state and charter regulations. Collaborate with the Mentor Principal to oversee facilities, safety, and daily school operations. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE ? Master's Degree ? A valid CA Clear Single Subject or Multiple Subject teaching credential or PPS credential in School Counseling (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferrable to California). ? A valid CA Administrative credential/ Certificate of Eligibility (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferable to California), or are in the process of obtaining one. ? A minimum of 3 years of teaching or counseling experience at the K-12 level, with a history of improving student achievement. ? A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Assistant Principal, as well as other leadership roles (mentor teacher, department chair, etc.) ? Possess proven management and leadership capabilities, as well as team-building skills. ? Proven experience managing budgets, creating and implementing policies and demonstrated ability in creating and managing systems. ?
