Communications Network Engineer, Mid To Support Ngen Team
The TEKsystems Team supports the United States Navy in their goal of providing reliable and secure information services to their shore-based networks. TEKsystems has an opening for Communications Network Engineer, Mid to support the NGEN Team, in providing IT Services. Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities include: Knowledgeable engineer in the field of Ethernet and IP data engineering with 4 plus years' experience as a Network Technician. Position requires a high level of project coordination skills to manage the execution of maintenance activities and network outages. Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model is required. Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment. Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is a Plus. Knowledge and experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable. Overview of Duties
The duties include: Handling outage and maintenance tickets servicing more than 20,000 users across more than 12 sites since March 2016 through onsite and remote troubleshooting assistance for layer 1
3 issues, hardware installations of new and upgraded routers, switches, McAfee intrusion prevention systems, Aruba wireless controllers, Riverbed Steelhead WANX's, device configurations and reconfigurations, and LAN/WAN outage recovery. Troubleshooting outages and resolve network related issues. Local element for COMSEC
given briefings on troubleshooting TACLANES, Trained to re-key the TACLANES. Install and upgrade network devices and components. This includes switches, routers, and network monitoring devices. Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures. Performed escalation and additional tasks as directed. Investigated, resolved, documented, and reported the cause and corrective actions in the Incident Management System for all incidents assigned by the Service Desk. Qualifications
