Pickleball Instructor
The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is seeking a high-energy and knowledgeable Pickleball Instructor to lead our Recreational Youth Program! Designed for ages 6 to 14, this program introduces kids to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Through engaging classes, participants will learn the basics of pickleball while building hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and confidence on the court. We're looking for an instructor who can make the sport fun and accessible for beginners while reinforcing proper technique, sportsmanship, and safety. Essential Functions: Plan and lead recreational pickleball classes focused on foundational skills and game play. Teach basic strokes (serve, dink, volley, and drive), court positioning, scoring, and rules of the game. Demonstrate drills, techniques, and fun activities that keep youth engaged and improving. Foster a positive, respectful environment where every child feels encouraged and included. Monitor and enforce safety protocols and proper court behavior. Provide clear communication to parents and participants about progress, goals, and expectations. Uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions. Maintain equipment and training spaces to ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the youth sports program. Qualifications: Minimum age of 18. Experience playing or coaching pickleball is highly preferred. Prior experience working with youth in a sports, recreation, or camp setting. Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills. Ability to develop engaging lesson plans for various skill levels. Energetic, dependable, and patient. Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Work Environment & Physical Demands: Ability to stand and move actively for extended periods. Must be able to demonstrate strokes and techniques. Must be able to lift and move lightweight nets or equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
