Senior Retail Property Underwriter
Everest Insurance Company is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Retail Property team. This is a hybrid position working three days in the office and two remote. The role will be based in either Boston, MA, or Philadelphia, PA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting in the development of a profitable book of business within the Northeast territory for Everest Retail Property. Implementing a plan for growth in the region while creating brand awareness for Everest. Building and underwriting a diverse and profitable book of business. Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with appointed brokers. Developing, implementing, and controlling pricing and a risk selection standard that supports strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals. Effectively working with Actuarial, Claims, Loss Control, Operations, Finance, and Information Technology. Mentoring and coaching underwriters both technically and professionally. Maintaining awareness of competitor capabilities and strategies, as well as the overall insurance marketplace. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or related field, with insurance designations a plus. 3 to 7 years of relevant, commercial property underwriting experience, with demonstrated skills to support leadership with strategies to support a profitable portfolio. Be self-motivated and independent while maintaining underwriting discipline to achieve strategic objectives. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills. Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards. The ability to travel up to 25%. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Outstanding interpersonal relationship building with all business functions. Demonstrated abilities in employee coaching and mentoring.
