Long Field House Pay Grade: Temporary Job Description: College of Human Sciences and Education School of Kinesiology Wages as Earned (EMS Assistant) Job Summary: The EMS Instructor assistant is responsible for assisting in comprehensive instruction in emergency medical services topics. This includes the delivery of didactic, psychomotor, and affective learning experiences. The assistant plays a vital role in shaping competent EMS practitioners by adhering to state and national standards and maintaining a high quality of education. Job Responsibilities: 40%Provide assistance to students in EMS courses, ensuring content aligns with the National EMS Education Standards and any additional state-approved elements. 25%Assist the primary instructor in delivering course content, utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to accommodate learning needs. 15%Maintain accurate and organized student attendance, performance, and progress records. 15%Adhere to instructor qualification standards set by the Bureau of EMS, and obtain approval before providing instruction. 5%Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to applya degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description. Must be EMT Instructor Certified Preferred Qualifications: Possess the appropriate academic and/or allied health credentials, as determined by the Bureau of EMS. Demonstrate a strong understanding of education principles and theories, including instructional design, learning theories, and assessment strategies. Hold valid and current certifications and/or licenses as mandated by their credentialing agency. Have qualifications verified and approved by the Bureau of EMS before providing any EMS instruction. Experience in the delivery of EMS education is preferred.
