Project Manager Water / Wastewater

AECOM is looking for a Project Manager (PM) with a water/wastewater engineering background to work on small to large-sized projects for Orange County Sanitation District (OC San). This Project Manager will be Client-facing and assisting OC San achieve ongoing, near-term, and long-term project and program goals. This position will be based at OC San Plant 1 in Fountain Valley, California. The individual in this position will provide a proven ability to manage and execute water or wastewater engineering projects by collaborating with Clients, developing and promoting sound engineering solutions, and encouraging teamwork and cooperation across various engineering departments/disciplines. In this Project Manager role, this individual will help OC San complete projects, identify issues, and develop project and program goals. This Project Manager will work with, and sometimes act as, a project engineer/technical lead, and will interface with OC San design, construction, and operations and maintenance (O&M) teams. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Familiarity with wastewater treatment plant processes, facilities, and construction management will offer an advantage for the individual when interfacing with OC San. Job Responsibilities: Serves as project manager on various scales of projects as needed by clients. Manages technical and non-technical staff on multi-disciplinary design and construction administration efforts. Ensures project schedules and budgets are maintain progress towards goals established by clients. Makes decisions on project direction in order to satisfy needs of clients. Provides guidance and technical input to studies, reports and designs. Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Approves and signs off on work as needed. Presents complex technical solutions to clients. Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet project requirements. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related engineering field and 6 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and design, including project analysis, feasibility, and budgeting required or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education. Registration as a Professional Engineer in California, or able to obtain within six months of hiring date Valid Driver's License and must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review. Preferred Requirements: Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Ability to lead a project team, act as a client facing representative of AECOM, identify resourcing needs, act as a hiring manager, mentor staff, and build an team of engineers, inspectors, and construction managers to take projects from the planning phase through construction and commissioning. Familiarity with wastewater treatment plant facilities, processes, and construction management. Registration as a Professional Engineer in California, or able to obtain within six months of hiring date Excellent written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills Strong work ethic and professional demeanor Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative Familiarity with OC San procedures is highly desirable but not necessary. Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines Proficient/knowledgeable with CAD and design software (Civil 3D, Bentley Design Suites, Water CAD, Sewer CAD, ARC GIS, etc.) No relocation is available for this role.
