Program Educator For The 4-H UNITY Afterschool Program
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the Program Educator for the 4-H UNITY Afterschool Program. This role involves the implementation of engaging and culturally responsive in-school and afterschool activities for youth, as well as supporting educational programs to support families in our community. This position will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the 4-H UNITY Program located in Union-Endicott School District, creating a positive and inclusive environment for youth. This position will work closely with 4-H UNITY Program Director, UNITY Program Coordinator and staff with reporting and evaluation of each program. This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 37.5 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave. Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and one year of transferrable program/functional experience). Experience relevant to the role of the position. Valid NYS Driver's License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks). Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in direct youth development working with at-risk youth, families and/or adults. In-depth knowledge of Broome County programs and human services. Demonstrated ability to implement, organize, plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups. Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff. Demonstrated ability to organize reference materials for programming purposes. Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to utilize program resources within the community. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means. Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Program Responsibilities: Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research - 90% Utilize established positive youth development, program resources and materials in program work. Teach the existing educational program as defined. Utilize a variety of proven educational methods in program delivery efforts which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, distance learning, workshops and forums to deliver programming Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and 4-H Youth Development Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals. Implement program evaluation as designed. Assist in interacting with program participants to obtain evaluation data of program offerings, to include: evaluating effectiveness of all programs offered. Assist the 4-H UNITY Program Director, as appropriate, in administering program evaluation surveys, as directed. Administrative Responsibilities: Coordination/Operation - 5% Organize and coordinate activities related to 4-H UNITY and family engagement programming efforts, as appropriate, directed or assigned. Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued 4-H UNITY efforts. Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials. Provide support (i.e. employment/job seeking, work readiness) such as aligning employment and work experience resources, and compiling information to assist with identification of career interests, training needs and employment goals, and for addressing critical needs that threaten their successful program completion, health, well-being, preparation for and success in the workforce. Collect evaluation data, as directed by the 4-H UNITY Program Director from program participants based on existing evaluation framework and guidelines. Provide information as requested to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories on program progress and accomplishments for funders, advisory committees, Board and others as necessary. This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities. Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5% In cooperation with Supervisor, Coordinator and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities. Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned. Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions. Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment. Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard. Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
