Network Control Technician
Mission Technologies is seeking a Network Control Technician to support the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) as part of the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE). This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of NETTN infrastructure-including client devices, servers, and network components supporting enterprise modeling and simulation applications. The technician will work closely with internal teams to configure, monitor, and maintain systems and network assets, apply regular patches, and ensure full compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). The role requires both independent initiative and team collaboration in a fast-paced defense training environment. The Navy relies on advanced simulation and networking technologies to prepare service members for complex missions. The Network Control Technician plays a pivotal role in keeping that training infrastructure secure, responsive, and mission-ready. By ensuring the health and performance of NETTN systems, this position helps safeguard national readiness and supports real-time tactical coordination across global operations. What You Will Do
Maintain smooth operation of LAN, WAN, and VPN systems Install, configure, and secure Microsoft Windows-based clients and servers Plan and coordinate installation or reconfiguration of network hardware and software Administer routers, switches, firewalls, bridges, multiplexers, and gateways Implement STIGs and cybersecurity best practices across all systems Use enterprise patching systems to apply updates and maintain compliance Create and maintain network documentation, including procedures and system configurations Monitor performance and plan for future system capacity and network growth Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues across enterprise systems Coordinate maintenance schedules and third-party support as needed What You Must Have
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree in related field (no experience required), OR High school diploma/equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience Technical Skills Familiarity with Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline (SHB) Experience with Cisco switches and troubleshooting methods Experience installing and supporting LAN/WAN equipment and circuits Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and ACLs Strong grasp of STIG implementation and DoD cybersecurity requirements Knowledge of VMware virtualization Experience using performance monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) Excellent documentation and troubleshooting skills Strong communication skills and customer focus Ability to manage multiple work priorities effectively Certification & Clearance Requirements Security+ (DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant) or equivalent (required) Must be a U.S. citizen Must hold a current or active DoD Secret clearance and maintain clearance throughout employment. Preferred Requirements Linux+, Microsoft, or additional Cisco certifications (preferred) Experience with Microsoft server and workstation/enterprise patching Familiarity with network scanning and remediation tools Ability to read and digest technical documentation quickly High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Physical Requirements Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
